Oro Valley Country Club is an exclusive golf club in Oro Valley, Arizona, a suburb found 6 miles (9.7 km) north of Tucson. The club had been developed by Robert Bruce Harris, a noted golf course designer. A construction contract was signed on July 28, 1958, calling for a completion day by December 28, 1958, and was sent to Oro Valley Inc. precisely on time. Oro Valley Country Club is located on the banks of the Cañada del Oro, at the base of Pusch Ridge in the Santa Catalina Mountains. The Town of Oro Valley, incorporated in 1974, takes its name from Oro Valley Country Club.
Oro Valley Country Club Inc. was formed in June 1959. Actual Member ownership of the Club was not established until February 15, 1961, when the Club was purchased by its people from Oro Valley Inc. for $1,600,000. The purchase included the golf course, clubhouse, pro shop, swimming pool, 235 residence sites and the Oro Valley Water Company franchise.
The renovation of the whole golf course had been undertaken within the summertime of 1987, using revised design work offered by Keith Foster of the Arthur Hill Company. Great significance in the redesign had been the digging of the retention lake that runs down the left region of the 18th fairway. The combination of the waterfall and lake using the Pusch Ridge area of the Santa Catalina Mountains as backdrop, developed the signature hole, extensively mentioned as one of the greatest finishing holes in Arizona.
Many may describe the Oro Valley Country Club as calm, quiet and with subdued beauty. There’s a lot of stunning houses into the Oro Valley Country Club for sale around the course and many of these have wonderful sights of the hills as well as the course.
